A Country Music show with emphasis on the British and local Country Music scene. In the first year of presenting Country Music on Cheshire FM a total of 1590 tracks were played of which 830 were by British artists. A weekly theme covering a British artist together with any new albums which I get with a track played that week and a further 4 tracks as feature of the artist. Themes featured included drinking songs, pioneers of British Country, the ladies of Country Music and a Valentines special with all tracking including either hearts or roses in the title. Several interviews for the show included a Canadian Country singer, Jalayne Tradler and British artists, Back2back, Nashville Angels Chrissy Byrne and local Country singer, Tony Miller A local Country Gig Guide is featured weekly.About Rick I then found myself being asked, with other presenters, to do road shows and also to do discos. My first disco was at The Dingle Hotel in Lymm in February 1996 with Country band from Manchester. A couple of days beforehand, I found out that the hotel didn’t have any disco equipment so a quick trip to Altrincham to buy some basic equipment. I found myself as regular D.J. The Grangeway Community Centre in Runcorn asked me to stage a night for them in July 1996, which is still a regular Country Music and dance night. Other local venues came and went and you can always catch me at The Gladstone Club in Northwich every Sunday evening either as DJ or as a Country Music journalist. I have been involved in the organisation and D.J. at the Tollemache Country Music Festival every June.
